Ca urmare a cererii nr. 656/2004 către DCCPCN Alba şi a adresei nr. 980/06.09.2004 înaintată MNUAI, în perioada 01.10.2004-02.10.2004, pe baza autorizaţiei de săpătură nr. 253/2004 şi a contractului de cercetare nr. 1027/14.09.2004, a fost executată cercetarea arheologică în vederea descărcării de sarcină istorică a terenului pe care beneficiarul intenţionează să-şi construiască obiectivul "extindere locuinţă".
Terenul în cauză este situat în zona central-sudică a oraşului roman colonia Aurelia Apulensis (cod sit 1026.02). A fost trasată o suprafaţă S1 având dimensiunile de 4x1 m. orientată pe direcţia ESE–VNV.
În urma cercetării arheologice a rezultat faptul că în perimetrul respectiv au existat vestigii aparţinând epocii romane (sec. II-III), care în perioada modernă au fost supuse unor intervenţii antropice, care aveau drept scop recuperarea de materiale de construcţii.
Au fost recuperate materiale tegulare, ceramică (fragmentară) aparţinând fazei de piatră a edificiilor romane (sfârşitul sec. II). De asemenea a fost depistat un nivel de arsură aparţinând fazei de lemn a edificiilor ridicate în epoca romană.
A fost întocmită documentaţia grafică şi fotografică.

The archaeological research took place in the archaeological site from Apulum, in the central-southern area of the Roman town colonia Aurelia Apulensis. In this area existed vestiges from the Roman Age (2nd-3rd centuries), subjected in the Modern age to major human interventions aiming to recycle building materials. The inventory consists of tiling and pottery fragments belonging to the stone stage of the edifices (end of 2nd century). A level of cremation was identified for the wooden stage of the settlement.

Abstract |
The excavations went on in the archaeological site of Apulum, in the central-southern area of the Roman town of colonia Aurelia Apulensis. In this area we found vestiges from the Roman period (2nd-3rd centuries), subjected in the modern age to major human interventions aiming to recycle building materials. The finds include tiles and sherds dating to the stone phase of the buildings (end of 2nd century). A cremation level from the wooden phase of the settlement was identified.
