În zona bulevardului 1 Decembrie 1918, s-au efectuat lucrări de supraveghere arheologică, ocazionate de introducerea unei conducte de termoficare. În cea mai mare parte a zonei afectate de proiect, săpătura a fost făcută pe traseul unor şanţuri mai vechi cu diverse utilizări: pentru cabluri electrice sau pentru conducte aducţiune a apei .
Totuşi, într-o zona nederanjată, în dreptul culoarului dintre scara B a blocului 10 şi magazinul aflat la E de acesta, a fost descoperit la -1 m, un mormânt de inhumaţie acoperit cu ţigle în două ape. Mormântul conţinea un schelet de adult, orientat E - V, cu capul la V (orientare creştină), fără inventar. Acest tip de mormânt are analogii în necropola callatiană1, datate în sec. VI, la Tomis2 - tipul VII datat în sec. V-VI, Piatra Frecăţei3 etc. şi poate fi datat în sec. V-VI p.Chr. Pe traseul secţiunii au mai fost descoperite fragmente ceramice purtate, dintre care menţionăm o toartă de amforă ştampilată (probabil de Thasos), un fragment de bol megarian, ţigle antice fragmentare şi o pipă turcească fragmentară.

English Abstract |
In the area of 1 Decembrie 1918 Avenue we had to conduct an archaeological survey, because of some piping works. In the largest part of the area affected by the project, the excavation was undertaken along the track of older trenches with various uses: for electrical cables or for water feed pipes. Nevertheless, in an undisturbed area, opposite the corridor between staircase B of block 10 and the store found to the east, we uncovered -1 m deep, an inhumation tomb covered by tiles. The tomb contained an adult skeleton, in an east-westward position, with the head laid westwards (Christian position), with no goods. This type of tomb has analogies in the Callatis, dating to the 6th century, at Tomis - type 7 dating to the 5th - 6th centuries, Piatra Frecăţei, etc. and may be dated to the 5th - 6th centuries AD. Along the section we also uncovered sherds, including a stamped amphora handle (probably of Thasos), a Megarian bowl sherd, fragmentary ancient tiles, and a fragmentary Turkish pipe.
