Campania de săpătură arheologică sistematică din 2022, în aşezarea fortificată de perioadă medieval-timpurie de la Oltina „Capul Dealului”, a vizat sectoarele de est și vest ale sitului, urmărindu-se: obținerea de noi date referitoare la tehnica de construcţie și structura sistemului defensiv al așezării, respectiv a relației dintre acesta și locuirea din secolele IX-XI; reconfigurarea situației planimetrice, în cele două sectoare și pe faze de locuire, prin adăugarea noilor descoperiri; determinarea densității de locuire în zonele cercetate și a activităților meșteșugărești desfășurate aici; finalizarea unor complexe cunoscute.
Sectorul A.
În acest sector a continuat cercetarea arheologică în secțiunea S III (de 28 x 3 m), dispusă E-V, perpendicular pe valul de pământ. Pe creasta valului s-a trecut de nivelul cu întăritură din lemn, ajungându-se la un strat cu pământ galben, în care apar sporadic fragmente ceramice medieval-timpurii de mici dimensiuni.
În jumătatea de est a perimetrului cercetat, au fost identificate două noi complexe (Cpl. 9/2022 și 10/2022), reprezentând o locuință adâncită și un cuptor scobit, ambele intrând parțial sub unul din profilele secțiunii.
Din inventarul locuinței amintim ceramică medieval-timpurie, împungător din os și coarne de cerb. Cuptorul scobit se află la 0,27 m sud de Cpl. 3/2018 și aparține unui complex suprapus parțial de acesta, relevând o succesiune cronologică. Din Cpl. 3/2018 provine o probă de os care indică, conform analizei de datare radiocarbon (C-14), funcționarea acestuia în intervalul anilor 860-980.
Cele două complexe medievale timpurii au fost supuse conservării in situ, urmând a fi finalizate în viitoarele campanii arheologice. ... Vezi mai mult Vezi mai puțin
Abstract [EN]:
The 2022 systematic archaeological excavation campaign, in the medieval-early fortified settlement of Oltina "Capul Dealului", targeted the eastern and western sectors of the site.
In the eastern sector, eight new complexes were identified in the SIB and two complexes started in previous campaigns were completed (Cpl. 3b/2021 – dwelling and Cpl. 7/2016 – oven with access pit, now completed by expanding the area of the section to the south). The new complexes consist of: 5 dwellings, 2 pits with various uses and 1 circular oven, all from the 9th-11th centuries. Among the dwellings investigated, Cpl. 2/2022 through the layout of the oven, which shows in the preserved part (it was partially destroyed by one of the pits Cpl. 1/2012), on the edge, 10 semicircular, oblique, plastered holes, which supported the wooden formwork used when making the oven dome. This way of building the dome of the oven, with clear traces, is recorded for the first time in the settlement of Oltina and, as far as we know, in Dobrudja, for this period. Another oven, cut by the access hole of Cpl. 7/2016, presented two hearth restorations, totaling three overlapping hearths.
In the same sector, the SIIB was opened, on an elevated area located on the eastern boundary of the site, between the SIB and the access road to the settlement, with the aim of identifying possible traces of the defensive system. At this stage, no special landscaping was observed. Along with ceramics, two Byzantine coins (11th century), a Roman one (from Trajan, post year 106) and a cordiform applique (10th century) were discovered on the surface of the section.
In the western sector, research continued in section S III, arranged perpendicular to the earth vallum. On the crest of the vallum, the level with wooden reinforcement was passed, reaching a layer of yellow soil, in which small early medieval ceramic fragments appear sporadically. In the eastern half, two new complexes have been identified (Cpl. 9/2022 and 10/2022), representing a deepened dwelling and a hollowed oven.
The resulting material was stored at MINA Constanţa.
